Does this sound like you?

  • I want to be able to start communicating or better communicate with my Greek friends, family and locals.
  • I want to understand how Greek grammar works and be able to use it in everyday conversations.
  • I want to develop my vocabulary by following a well-structured plan and learn words that I will actually use.
  • I need someone to give me detailed feedback.
  • I need someone to create in class and out-of-class activities that will help me re-use what I've learnt.

    but above all...
  • I want to learn Greek through engaging learning materials that make me think, feel and focus on speaking practice and interaction.

"Immerse yourself in Greek"

Who is it for?

“Immerse yourself in Greek” General Greek language courses are targeted at students who wish to acquire Modern Greek gradually and thoroughly by developing the four essential language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing while focusing on daily interaction.

Language prerequisites for each course

Below you will find a basic description of what learners are expected to be able to do before joining each language course.
This description is based on the latest revision and refinement of CEFR (Common European Framework of Languages) in 2008.
For a more in-depth analysis of your language level I will ask you to complete a placement test before you enroll. The results of the placement test along with my feedback will help you choose the best course according to your strengths and skills.

A1 level course

Learners who do not know how to read and write in Greek. They may just know only how to greet.

A1+ level course

Learners who already know the Greek alphabet, how to greet and give basic info about themselves. They can also order a coffee or buy something in a very simple way. However they cannot  effectively interact in basic everyday situations.

A2 / A2+ level course

Learners who are able to understand basic dialogues and communicate in basic, everyday situations when the other person speaks slowly, clearly and is prepared to help. However, learners need to put the words together faster, review the basic grammar and become more accurate while expanding their vocabulary.

B1 / B1+ level course

Learners who can already communicate in a simple way  to different areas of everyday life. However, they cannot deal with most situations when they talk with native speakers.

B2 level course

Learners who already sufficiently communicate with native speakers and can deal with most everyday situations without problems. However, they still cannot successfully negotiate and spontaneously explain their viewpoints on various and  complex topics.

Let's have a look inside!

#1 Engaging materials and activities

Teaching Modern Greek as a foreign language since 2014 I found out that learners not only better enjoy our lessons but most importantly better remember grammar and vocabulary when the materials speak to their minds and hearts. For this reason, I have developed materials for all my courses based on students' most favourite topics, texts and activities.

#2 Grammar in use

Detailed grammar notes with daily examples
and a variety of activities.

#3 Free access to the best vocabulary app

All the new words available at any time in your mobile phone or tablet. After each class students receive a set of online interactive flashcards that I have carefully prepared for them with all the new vocabulary included. They can hear the pronunciation, see examples, track their progress and...challenge themselves and their friends by playing word games!

#4 Homework

If you really want to better consolidate and remember what we see together in class out-of-class activities are necessary. After each class you will receive a file with the homework that you will have to prepare for our next session.

Elise Sabev, sweet Greek learner from Norway (A1.1 and A1.2 level course)

"I feel I have improved on all aspects."

“After having a close look at your website, I got the impression that you were an eager and very sweet teacher who pulls for her students. And I’m glad to say that I was right! Since I started from scratch I feel I have improved on all aspects. I really enjoy how you adapt grammar into real life situations for your students. You have a common curriculum set for everyone, but the execution is dependent on the topics of natural conversation happening between you and your student.”

Marie-Louise Ankringa, sweet Greek learner from Holland (A1.1 and A1.2 level course)

She developed all of her materials herself and they are highly effective!!

“My boyfriend and I decided to move to Greece. And of course it is necessary to learn the local language when living somewhere. Lydia is a very knowledgable and enthusiastic teacher with a love for the Greek language. She developed all of her materials herself and they are highly effective!! I started as a complete beginner with no prior knowledge of Greek. After finishing the A1 course with Lydia, I am able to use the Greek language for every day life and hold small talk. I feel like Lydia teaches all aspects of the language well: speaking, reading, writing, and listening.”

Tiziano Salerno, sweet Greek learner from Italy (A2 level course)

Lydia's teaching method: relaxed, joyful, practical!

“I wanted to learn Greek in order to be able to use it in social and work situations. What I liked most was the method. Lydia’s teaching method: relaxed, joyful, practical!”

Edda Roeland, sweet Greek learner from Holland (A1.1 and A1.2 level course)

I am getting more confident in understanding and speaking when spoken to.

“I enrolled in this course because we moved to Greece, and I therefore I wanted to learn the language. What I like the most in the course is Lydia -of course- and her course material. She can pick you up, where you are (i did a beginners course in my hometown already) and start from there. Secondly the topics are from day to day life, so very usefull and better to remember. If I have an answer or feel I have problems with something we did quite a while ago, we again discuss it and she explains it again. Ι am getting more confident in understading and speaking when spoken to.”
