General Greek courses

Let's learn Greek together!

Start or continue you Greek journey with me

My general Greek courses are targeted at students who wish to acquire Greek gradually and thoroughly by developing the four essential language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.

I help students of the first four levels of Greek (from absolute beginners to upper intermediate students of modern Greek) to learn how to speak, read and write successfully in my native language.

My teaching philosophy emphasizes on communication therefore grammar, vocabulary, writing and speaking are always taught in such a way so that students can use what they have learnt in daily conversations.

Let's have a look inside!

#1 Start communicating

Students start speaking from the very first lesson thanks to a variety of engaging speaking activities (role-playing dialogues, stories, interviews, coffee chats, descriptions, commentaries etc) that allow them to put in practice what we learn together in class.

#2 Grammar in use

Students receive my personal detailed Grammar notes with daily examples and a variety of activities (listening, writing, speaking) that force them to use the Grammar and start communicating. My Grammar workbook for the first two levels of Greek (A1-A2) with activities and answer key will be soon available online.

#3 Free access to the best vocabulary app

Although I love making my own word lists when it comes to vocabulary learning, I also love the opportunity of having all new words available at any time in my mobile phone or tablet. And no.. I am not talking about Google translator! I started using Quizlet app back in 2010 as a French learner and since it worked miracles for me, I intergrated it in my lessons. After each class my students receive a set of online interactive flashcards that I have carefully prepared for them with all the new vocabulary included. They can hear the pronunciation, see examples, track their progress and...challenge themselves and their friends by playing word games!

#4 "A goal without a plan is just a wish"

"A goal without a plan is just a wish" said Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the famous French author of the Little Prince. For me it summarizes perfectly the importance of having a specific plan when we invest our time, effort and money to something. This is the reason why after their enrollment to my courses or programs students receive their "Sweet Greek student's guide" with all the necessary info about their level, study tips and "track my progress" pages that move them closer to achieving their language goals.

#5 Greek culture

Modern Greek language and culture is the proud offspring of the ancient Greek world. Innumerous words have survived in modern Greek language since the age of Homer while ancient Greek culture came to be foundational to Western culture in general. During my General Greek language courses I am more than happy to share the knowledge that I acquired during my University studies about ancient Greek world with my students while practicing modern Greek!

F.A.Q

All lessons are conducted either face-to-face in Athens or online depending on your area.

Yes, but the enrollment to group courses is not available during the whole year. Groups are limited to 2-3 partictipants in order to ensure the active participation of all students. All the necessary info about the group courses (level, type of course, fees, enrollment deadlines) are announced on my social media and on this website. You can also subscribe to my mailing list and you will be notified via email.

If you are a beginner (A1) the lesson material is provided by me. If your level is A2, B1 or B2 will only need to buy one textbook. Your access to Quizlet vocabulary app, the detailed grammar notes, the grammar activities and the supportive material (extra texts for practice, listening activities, writing tips, spelling book etc) will be provided by me.
